This is a popular fitment with the optimum tyre a 235/40/18. For a wider alternative, a 245/40/18 tyre can be fitted but some modifications to the arches may be required to prevent rubbing under compression. A 255/35 can also fit but it may require some modification depending on how wide the tyre is. Alternatively, the stock 225/40 will fit too from the MK5 GTI.
