The ideal body construction advocated by SPOON is "rigidity".
The newly developed "Motion Control Beam" uses a specially designed damper to control the rigidity of the front and rear ends of the body, where twisting occurs most when driving, to improve turning performance during cornering and for street use. This product improves comfort and quality.
Since the 1990s, we at Spoon have been participating in touring car races based on commercially available cars, and we have been trying to leverage the technology, knowledge, and experience gained from racing without sacrificing the comfort and quality required for street use. We have been working on product development based on this theme.
Among SPOON's body parts created from feedback from race sites, the most representative product is ``Rigicolor'', which has been on sale since 2007. With Rigicolor, we have made the monocoque and subframe rigid by filling the gaps between the body, subframe, and fastening bolts with a specially shaped collar and firmly fastening them together.
This time, we focused on ``suppressing twisting at the end of the body'' that occurs during cornering, and ``balancing the comfort and quality required for street use.''
The "Motion Control Beam" is connected by a damper equipped with a special friction mechanism at the forefront of the front reinforcement and at the rear end of the rear end panel.
By installing a friction damper to prevent twisting on the diagonal line of the body side due to load transfer, we succeeded in significantly reducing body twisting while maintaining a certain level of rigidity.
With regular reinforcement braces alone, rigidity can be ensured, but slight vibrations will increase, but this friction damper absorbs those slight vibrations and provides a smooth, high-quality ride.
"Motion Control Beam" has a simple structure of high repulsion springs and friction plates.
When the body twists during cornering, when a large input is applied, the high repulsion spring works in the same way as a brace to suppress the twisting.
On the other hand, for small inputs, twisting is finely suppressed by the elastic force of the friction plate.
By separately controlling this non-constant torsional input, it has become possible to perform a wide range of suppression.

Notes & special notes
"Rigicolor" is a product that brings out the inherent dynamic performance of a vehicle, but "Motion Control Beam" controls twisting at the end of the body. However, it is a product developed from a different perspective, allowing for easy line tracing and reducing the discomfort caused by vibration.
By installing them at the same time, you can reproduce a high-quality ride without any unpleasant taste.
